If something bigger and a little more traditional is your preference, the next unit offered is a 5.3-litre V-8 that brings 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque to the party.
A 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel is the third of the four available power units, and this one provides the half-ton Chevy with 277 horsepower and a substantial 460 lb.-ft. of torque that makes it an excellent option for serious towing. The most powerful unit you can have is an excellent 6.2-litre gas V-8 that puts out 420 horsepower and the same torque as the turbodiesel. The standard format for most trim levels is for the power to go to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. However, every model is available with four-wheel-drive if it doesn’t already come as part of the standard specification.
It’s great to have a truck that can tow up to 6,033 kg, haul up to 1,030 kg, or has the off-road potential to conquer that most challenging terrain. But drivers have different levels of skill and experience, so Chevrolet makes all the very latest technology available to make it as easy as possible for drivers to exploit the true potential of the 2024 Silverado 1500.
For example, the ZR2 off-road champion already features standard four-wheel-drive, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear locking differentials, an enhanced 2-speed transfer case with Terrain Mode, large underbody aluminum skid plates, and a hidden dual-outlet exhaust.
