Standout styling

There’s no getting away from the fact that the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer is a midsize crossover SUV that’s unlikely to go under anyone’s radar. If you want to drive relatively anonymously around Regina, Moose Jaw, Emerald Park, or anywhere in Southern Saskatchewan, you’ll probably want to look to another model in the current Chevy lineup. Last year, the front and rear fascias enjoyed a modest refresh, with thinner and narrower LED headlights and taillights for an even more contemporary look. If you’d love one of Chevy’s performance cars but need something much more practical, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer is a natural choice.

Much of the interior is relatively familiar, but all models feature the larger 10.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Even the base model comes with standard bucket seats with an 8-way power driver’s seat, and rear legroom is particularly generous at almost 40-inches.

Wear your Blazer how you like it

There’s a decent amount of choice for shoppers with the available configurations of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. For a start, four different trim levels are available, allowing you to choose from a pair of excellent engines and front or all-wheel drive. The entry-level model is the 2024 Blazer LT, which comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-four engine and front-wheel drive. You can upgrade to all-wheel drive, and the bigger engine is also available if you wish, but you can’t have the optional engine with front-wheel drive.

The other three trim levels are the True North, RS, and the range-topping Premier, and all three get the 3.6-litre V-6 engine and all-wheel drive as part of their standard specification. The V-6 develops 308 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, but the turbo-four is no slouch, with 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Regardless of engine or drivetrain, all Blazers send their power to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Structured capability

New 2024 Chevrolet Blazer engine powertrains and performance

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer allows you to tailor it to your specific requirements, and some of the differences can appear quite subtle on the specification sheet. For example, when the Blazer is equipped with the turbo-four engine, the AWD system is a relatively basic and reactive setup that couples the rear axle once the system senses a front wheel is slipping. By contrast, the RS features a twin-clutch rear differential that distributes the torque between the rear wheels for improved grip and handling.

You can also activate a sport mode with the flip of a console switch in the Blazer RS, which instructs the nine-speed automatic transmission to hold low gears, dig deeper into the power band, and add some extra heft to the steering. Despite being a relatively weighty model, turbo-four versions of the 2024 Blazer can get you from 0 to 100 km/h in around eight seconds, and the V-6 gets that down to an impressive six seconds. Turbo-four models can tow up to 1,588 kg with the available trailering package, but V-6 models can handle up to an impressive 2,041 kg.

Standard generosity

The standard specification of the Blazer is impressive at every level. Like many automakers at the moment, Chevy places a strong emphasis on safety, and the 2024 Blazer is no exception. All Blazer models come with the Chevrolet Safety Assist package as part of their standard equipment. The package includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.

If you’d like to go even further, a Safety Plus Package is also available for the RS and Premier trim levels. That package adds wireless charging, HD Surround Vision, a rear camera mirror, Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Safety Alert Seat, and LED headlamps.
