Three-row SUVs often struggle to be as stylish and desirable as some of their smaller, sportier rivals, but not the Chevrolet Traverse. The Traverse benefits from a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year with changes to the front and rear light arrangements that manage to give the Chevy a fresh new look, but without sacrificing an overall look that continues to prove popular with buyers. The Traverse can still seat up to eight people in some comfort, it still delivers a smooth, comfortable ride, and it helps to keep you and your passengers safe with a good helping of the latest safety tech too.
It has to be said, though, that every version of the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse comes very generously equipped even in standard form. The trim levels start with the entry-level LS model, and from there the range goes to the LT, RS, True North, Premier, and finally to the imperious High Country. LS and LT models are standard front-wheel-drive with the option of AWD, while the rest of the lineup gets AWD as part of their standard equipment.
The Traverse may still be technically classed as a midsize rather than full-size crossover SUV, but this is still a substantial vehicle designed to carry up to eight people and their stuff so it needs a powertrain that can handle all that. There are certainly no worries in that direction as every version of the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse comes equipped with an impressive 3.6-litre V-6 engine that develops 310 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque that gets sent to the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Although the first couple of trim levels in the lineup are standard front-wheel-drive with the option of all-wheel-drive, the majority of the Traverse family are standard all-wheel-drive. And if you need to transport more than just people and their belongings the Traverse is even capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds.
LT models look like particularly good value for money with standard 18-inch alloys, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, an 8-way power driver’s seat, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus with an 8.0-inch diagonal HD colour touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless open, heated front and rear seats, premium cloth upholstery and tri-zone automatic climate control. If all that isn’t quite enough for you, the LT can also be enhanced by raiding the options list for the likes of a power tailgate, leather upholstery, and parking sensors.
The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is one of the best and certainly one of the most popular vehicles of its type in North America and it comes with an impressive list of standard equipment at every level.
