The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is a completely new all-electric subcompact crossover SUV that shares its architecture with the hatchback but doesn’t share any of its smaller sibling’s exterior sheet metal. However, the exterior styling is modern, stunning, and extremely stylish and plenty of people will be drawn to the Bolt EUV by its looks before they ever realise that it’s not powered by a conventional gasoline internal combustion engine. All things considered, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV makes a compelling case for going electric, especially as the first Chevrolet to be made available with the new Super Cruise driver-assistance package.
There’s a little more to configuring your new Chevy Bolt EUV than choosing the colour and which of the two trim levels you want before you take delivery and go driving around Regina, Rowatt, Richardson, or anywhere else for that matter. The two available trim levels are the LT and the Premier and they’re both very generously equipped in their standard forms, but there are several interesting options for further upgrading and enhancing your new Bolt EUV.
With the LT in particular, you have the option of upgrading with the available LT True North Package. This is almost like another trim level as it gets you Jet Black/Nightshift Blue leather-appointed seating, ventilated driver and front passenger seats, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, a front passenger seatback map pocket, a rear centre armrest with 2 additional cup holders, and some 17-inch Dark Android painted aluminum wheels with Silver-painted inserts.
Any conversation about an all-electric vehicle will still inevitably gravitate to the powertrain and the vehicle’s performance, and the Bolt EUV is no exception. Powering the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is an electric motor system and 65-kWh battery pack that develops a very healthy 200 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque. The Bolt EUV’s top speed is around 93mph, but Chevy’s acceleration will put a smile on your face when that almost instantaneous torque sends you from a standing start to 60mph in a pretty lively 6.5 seconds.
Of course, the one statistic most people want to know about any electric vehicle is how far it can go on a single charge of the battery before it needs recharging. The Bolt EUV is rated at a more than respectable 250 miles, which is considerably more miles than the vast majority of us drive in a day, or even several days for that matter. The Bolt EUV’s 11-kilowatt onboard charger means a full charge takes around seven hours when connected to a 48-amp wall box on a 60-amp circuit. And when you have access to DC fast charging, enough charge for a hundred miles of range can be added to the battery in just 30 minutes.
The two trim levels are fairly similar when it comes to their standard equipment and neither version lacks anything the majority of buyers would consider essential. The Premier does have a slightly more premium feel with some more upscale trim elements and features such as rain-sensing wipers and adaptive cruise control, but perhaps the bigger difference comes with some of the available features for the Premium that are not available with the LT.
These available upgrades for the Bolt EUV Premier include the likes of a panoramic sunroof, a Sun and Sound Package, and the Super Cruise Package that couples Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking with a hands-free driver assistance system for use on divided and compatible highways.
The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV could be one of the vehicles the world has been waiting for that hits all the right notes to convince those who are still on the fence about electric vehicles to seriously consider one. We’re confident that when you come to RMP Chevrolet here at Albert St. South @ Hwy 1 & 6, Regina, SK, for a test drive you’ll agree with us that this is a sensational vehicle in its own right, and definitely not an electrified novelty.
